How to remove radio head unit – Jaguar-XJ

Jaguar X300 and XJ40 radio head unit removal

Open up the armrest on the centre console and
remove the 2 screws at the front.

You can now lift out the centre section that
houses the cigarette lighter. Then remove the
wiring from the rear of the cigarette lighter.

Now remove the plastic strip on the leading edge of
the wooden gearstick surround.

Now lift out the plastic/leather/chrome gearstick
surround.

Now reach under the leading edge of the wooden
gearstick surround and you should feel 2 nylon
wing nuts (one on each side). These need to be
unscrewed in order to release the remaining
wooden gearstick surround.

Now remove the 6 screws holding the plastic frame
that sits around the head unit and controls.

Now remove the plastic frame, ed this should now
allow the head unit to be pulled out.
